Shubenacadie Canal Commission

The Shubenacadie Canal Commission approached Harmonic to rebuild their web presence, with particular attention to imagery, the history of the canal system, and the ability to support the commission in its work through online donations and purchases through an online store.

We are a waterway, bounded by a greenbelt, spanning the province of Nova Scotia from Halifax Harbour to the Cobequid Bay - linking communities enroute.

The site was built using the Drupal content management system, with Ubercart supporting the online store and online donations functionality.  Visitors can purchase items from the store and have them delivered, or pick them up at the commission offices located in the Fairbanks Centre.

On the home page, we combined images from the canal, as well as famous art prints from local artist Tom Forrestall, with "Did you know?" style facts on the home page.  We know not everyone is going to read a website from start to finish - so we thought this was a great way to introduce little tidbits of info to their website audience.

Photo albums and videos (including animations of how the canal used to operate) truly help to illustrate the rich history and current use of the canal system that stretches from Halifax Harbour all the way to Cobequid bay.
